Project 2

This project required a high level of attention to detail. The house, built in the 1980s, is 50 square meters with two compartments. It had a concrete floor but no concrete foundation beneath it, which created a moisture problem in the crawling space. The space was very humid, and moisture was rising directly onto the concrete floor. Upon inspection, we found there were no ventilation openings, and the construction was damp.
To address this, we drilled ventilation holes to improve airflow, which is essential for preventing moisture buildup. We then placed a bottom foil as a moisture barrier and allowed the house to dry out for two weeks. This step is crucial when condensation is present in the construction, as it ensures that the structure is completely dry before insulation.
After two weeks, we returned to the site. The house was dry and ready for insulation, so we double-checked the bottom foil for proper moisture control. We then proceeded with installing the insulation, ensuring it was properly cut and fitted. Once the insulation was in place, we cut the ventilation openings, taped them securely, and then applied foam around all edges and corners to make the insulation airtight.
With everything sealed and insulated, we completed the project in just five work hours spread across two days. The house was now well-insulated, dry, and protected from moisture, ready for use.
